The seaside resort Breskens

In the surroundings of Breskens there is plenty to do for young and old. To start with, Breskens is known as a seaside resort; its location right on the beach is a reason for many to book a holiday in the picturesque village. The small scale of the village, but also the large range of activities, makes a holiday in Breskens full of fun. After all, everything happens in and around the centre, which ensures good accessibility for tourists of all ages.

You will find the beach within walking/cycling distance, but also the centre, the shops and the catering establishments are easy to find on your route through the village. Trips to the fishing museum, the trout farm or the marina offer a change from sunbathing, as does De Festijn where you can book a boat trip to a sandbank with seals. Even on days when the weather is not so good, you can swim in the swimming pool at Park Schoneveld or Park Scheldeveste. Visit De Afslag where miniature golf and an indoor playground provide fun in any weather.

Every Monday morning there is a weekly market on Spuiplein. Are you booking a holiday around the 1st weekend of August? Then you should definitely not miss the Visserijfeesten! An annual event for which Breskens is famous.

Schoondijke

Pay a visit to clean Schoondijke, a crossroads village in the municipality of Sluis. A crossroads village is known for its location near an intersection of roads and important buildings (church, inn and other facilities). In Schoondijke, you will find among other things Het Klinket, where you can book various activities, such as farmer's golf and football golf, the maize maze or a visit to the agricultural museum.

The fortified town of Sluis

In the historical town of Sluis, there is an exuberant and cosy atmosphere. Sluis is situated close to the Belgian border and therefore offers the best of two countries. In Sluis, you can enjoy a delicious meal at the local restaurants. The shops are open seven days a week. Other attractions in the vicinity of Sluis include the Monnikenwerve ostrich farm, the Bizarium museum or the Belfry. At Toversluis, you can book an evening of bowling with the family or an afternoon of fun in the indoor or outdoor playground. In the classic hotel 'De Dikke van Dale' you will find the local casino.

Citytrip to Ghent or Bruges (Belgium)

So close to the Belgian border, a city trip to Ghent or Bruges during your holiday in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen should not be missed. You can drive from Breskens to Bruges in 45 minutes, and the route to Ghent is a little longer, but there too you will arrive within the hour. Both cities are tourist attractions; cities full of atmosphere, entertainment, cosiness and history. Absolutely worthwhile to taste the atmosphere, but also the Belgian beer! From Breskens, public transport to the Belgian cities is also well organised.
